BREAKING: Woman Killed in Random Times Square Stabbing, Suspect Fatally Shot by NYPD

A woman was killed and another person was injured in a stabbing attack in New York City’s Times Square, prompting a dramatic police response in one of the busiest areas of Manhattan.

According to authorities, a 49-year-old woman allegedly attacked two people in what investigators initially described as a random stabbing.

A 32-year-old woman who was stabbed was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 68-year-old man was also injured and was reported to be in stable condition.

Police officers responding to the scene confronted the suspect, who authorities said was armed with two large knives.

Officers initially attempted to stop her with a Taser, but police said it was unsuccessful. The suspect was then shot by NYPD officers.

Authorities said there were no immediate indications that the attack was connected to terrorism.

The incident has drawn attention because it occurred in Times Square, one of New York City’s most recognizable and heavily visited locations.

Investigators are working to determine what led to the attack and whether the suspect had any connection to the victims.
